Superhero Clubhouse is a New York-based collective of artists and scientists working at the intersection of environmentalism and theater. We create fictional performances rooted in complex environmental questions, practice ecological production, and collaborate across disciplines and communities to enact a thriving society. We believe theater is an essential tool for evolving our consciousness in the face of global environmental crises.
THE LIVING STAGE NYC
THE LIVING STAGE combines horticulture, theatrical design, and community engagement to create recyclable, biodegradable, biodiverse, and edible performance spaces. The NYC version, led by Superhero Clubhouse in partnership with University Settlement and eco-scenographer Tanja Beer, will feature a lush, living stage situated amidst the urban landscape of the Lower East Side. Created by local seniors and students, the space is then inhabited by performances made for and by the community. A free, family-friendly premiere will be held on August 4th & 5th at Meltzer Garden. Learn more about The Living Stage here.
On June 9 we led an Eco-Performance Lab for this year's TCG National Conference in Portland, OR. And then on June 10 we joined our fellow Climate Lens founding members on a panel about our initiative.
